Maple Leaf Middle School aims to provide an elite education to all the students, regardless of race, color or nationality. We provide the national curriculum integrated with Chinese“Three Good Habits” Nurturing Education, highlighting Maple Leaf English features, implementing the leading teaching mode, and building Maple Leaf Middle School characteristics.


特色一:英语课程以及分级体系

襄阳枫叶国际学校将全面移植枫叶课程体系和育人体系,枫叶初小学实施“国家课程、集团课程和校本课程”三级课程体系。开足开全国家课程,突出英语特色优势,采用国标英语教材、集团枫叶英语教材。实施枫叶ESL分级教学,从小学1年级到初中9年级,一共分9个级别,在《枫叶ESL分级课程标准》的指导下,保证枫叶小、初、高一体,分级教学、考试、评价、按级选课全面实施,做到因材施教,因生施教,确保英语基础不同的枫叶学子都能获得最大进步,在初中,英语词汇量达到5500个以上,不仅能够达到中考的要求,还能具有熟练的听说读写能力和高层次的思维能力,直接对接枫叶高中。

Feature 1: Maple Leaf Level-based ESL Teaching System

Xiangyang Maple Leaf International School will fully follow Maple Leaf Curriculum System and Educational System. Elementary and Middle School has the unique three-level curriculum system, which are National Curriculum, ML Group Curriculum and School-based Curriculum. National Curriculum is fully in operation using the national English textbook, and we highlight English features by using Maple Leaf English textbooks. These standards guarantee the full operation of English level-based system of teaching, testing, assessment and course selection according to students’ English levels in Maple Leaf Primary Schools, Middle Schools and High Schools. This makes sure that each Maple Leaf student is provided at-level courses and can achieve the greatest improvement in their English ability. In Maple Leaf Middle School, students are able to master more than 5500 English words. The students can not only reach Zhongkao’s requirements, but also improve their English abilities, to enable them to get accepted in Maple Leaf High School.


特色二:丰富的教学资源

襄阳枫叶国际学校有从武汉派出的骨干中外教教师,年轻富有活力,充满责任心和工作的热情,对待教学严谨有加,团队合作意识强。除了校区内集体教研,互帮互助学习之外,集团英语中心会给老师提供教学指导和培训资料,对老师的教学起到监督和提升作用。枫叶初中英语中教课程以Teen 2 Teen , Oxford Discover等进口原版教材为主,国家课程《新目标》和校本课程《枫叶英语》教材为辅。外教英语课主要是以Connect, Prism等进口教材为基础,侧重听说能力的训练,阅读能力的提升,英文思维的形成。


Feature 2: Abundant English Teaching Materials

We have excellent teachers. Some are from Wuhan Educational Park, they are young and energetic, they are responsible and enthusiastic, they are keen on teaching with strong awareness of teamwork. Except the teaching research in school, the head office in ML Group will guide and train the teachers. The teaching materials Teen 2 Teen , Oxford Discover are main textbooks, and Go For It and Maple Leaf English as supporting teaching materials in Middle school. ESL class is based on Connect, Prism as the main textbooks, focusing on listening, speaking, reading ability and creative thinking.

老师们努力使自己的教学得到提高,为的是让学生在英语课堂上能够快乐学习,成为真正的受益人。无论是哪种英语课型的课堂,学生都是课堂的主角,学生们在英语课上能够享受到各种英语能力的训练和培养,他们能观察,能读,能写,能说,能辩,能思考,能创作,能合作。他们会把大提琴带到英语课堂做课堂三分钟演讲,他们会激情饱满的唱响课前英文歌,他们会动手设计自己心仪的英语学案,他们会制作英语故事小书,他们会拍摄富有创意的科学课广告短片等。枫叶的英语课堂,考试成绩不代表什么,只有综合英语能力好才表明你是英语小达人。

Feature 3: English classes

Efforts are made by the teachers to improve their teaching abilities in order to let students learn English happily and effectively. No matter which types of classes you are in, students play the leading role in class. Their English abilities and skills will be improved through observing, reading, writing, debating, thinking critically and cooperation. They could carry their violins to their English classes for daily speech. They could sing and design their own learning plan. They also could make mini-books, and even take a creative video. In Maple Leaf, the comprehensive English ability will be the main evaluation of the students’ English instead of the students’ test score.


特色四:英语活动

在枫叶,多课时的英语教学是学生的第一英语课堂,那么丰富的英语社团和英语活动可谓是学生们的第二英语课堂。学生们在第二课堂接触英语,使用英语,把第一课堂所学赋予实践中,增强了他们的自信心。英文游戏社团,英语戏剧社等给有这些方面特长的孩子提供了很好的学习和展示机会。英语艺术节,英语演讲比赛,英语单词拼写大赛,英语朗诵比赛使学生们在比赛中收获了英语学习的成果。万圣节,感恩节,圣诞节等一个个西方节日的主题文化布置活动,学生们能感受到西方的文化气息。

Feature 4: English activities

A great number of English classes plays an important role for students to learn English while various of English clubs and activities are the supporting teaching resources for them, in which students not only learn English but also put English into practice, enhancing their confidence, for instance, English game clubs, English drama clubs, those clubs provide children with opportunities to not only learn English but also improve their acting skills. English Arts Festival, English Speech Contest, English Word Spelling Contest, and English Reading Competition have enabled students to show what they have learned in school. Students can experience the Western culture from Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other Western festivals.


特色五:评价体系

英语学科教学另一特色就是学习评价方式的变革:即变传统的终极性评价为科学的形成性评价。具体体现在:

A.从单一的期中、期末试卷成绩改为平时学习过程的评价和考试相结合的方式。

B.从单纯的成绩评价改为对学生学习态度、学习习惯和学习成绩的综合评价;

C.从单一的笔试改为听说读写的综合测试。

D.中方教师课程评价和加方教师课程评价相结合。

Feature 5: Evaluation System

Another feature of English teaching is the revolution of evaluation system, different from traditional summative evaluation, the new evaluation system is more scientific  and practical. Here are the following details:

A. We changed from test result orientated system to a all-round evaluation system, both students’ behavior and test results will be taken into consideration.

B. Comprehensive evaluation on students’ attitude, habits and grades rather than single results of grades.

C. Test on listening, speaking, reading and writing, rather than written test.

D. Evaluated by both international teachers and bilingual teachers
